ERICA MCMILLAN
FOUNDER/PHOTOGRAPHER AT MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY OAHU
Over the years I have fallen in love with capturing the beauty, strength, and vulnerability of women during pregnancy and childbirth, a passion born from my work as a midwifery apprentice, doula, and lactation counselor over the past 20 years (did I mention I’m also a mother of 5)? Through these intimate experiences I have gained an understanding and immense appreciation for the physical, emotional & spiritual processes at work within, as we journey into motherhood. Birth work has been a part of my life throughout my mothering journey and I continue to seek opportunities to support and nurture women via birth & postpartum doula care.
With all the fears, challenges, & decisions we face during the birthing process I feel it’s essential to make time to celebrate and honor the journey along the way. I’ve seen over & over how creative projects like pregnancy portraits, bellycasts, and body art allow mothers-to-be to get out of their heads for awhile, loosen up, have fun, and get excited about the miraculous processes at work inside of them!
I invite you to join me in capturing the fleeting moments and beauty of mother and baby as one by indulging in a creative endeavor that you can reflect on and enjoy for a lifetime.
My photography work has been featured in Mother’s Care marketing materials.
Our bellycasts have been featured in the Star Bulletin and on Hawaii Now as part of the Hawaii Baby Expo!
